How Nicole’s dinosaur story became a real book
The Dinosaur World did not begin with a business plan. It began quietly at home, while Nicole watched her daddy turn the words of his own debut book into pages—and discovered that she wanted to create a world of her own.
A story appeared
Dinosaurs already occupied a very large corner of Nicole’s imagination. One day, at seven years old, she wrote a story about their world. When it was ready, she sat with Daddy and read it aloud to him.
He was genuinely surprised—not simply because she had written something, but because her little story carried its own imagination, movement and feeling. He admired what she had made. More than anything, he wanted Nicole to experience the wonder of seeing a world first created in her mind begin to take shape before her eyes.
From an A4 printout to a board book
At first, they printed the words and pictures on ordinary sheets of A4 paper. Yet when those simple pages were gathered together, the homemade book felt unexpectedly cozy—as though Nicole’s imagined world had already found a small place in their home.
They began to wonder whether it could become something another child might hold, turn through and ask to read again. That little paper version grew into a sturdy 7 × 7 inch board book with 18 thick pages, a website built as a family and a short animated film that carries Nicole’s dinosaurs a little farther beyond the page.
Still a family project
Nicole’s part did not end when the writing was finished. She helps create the mailing labels and prepares books for their journey from the family’s home in Southern California. When she is at school, Daddy looks after the business on her behalf and keeps their small publishing project moving.
Nicole also practices figure skating and sometimes competes locally. The book remains one part of an ordinary, busy childhood—and a gentle reminder that a child’s unexpected idea, when listened to with care, can become something real.
